I couldn't agree more with the above quote. What you wear really does have a huge effect on how you feel, and that is why I pay great attention to the gear I wear. It's all cheap crap, but I try to put it together well.
I got this skull t-shirt from Wal-Mart, but I don't think you'd ever guess if cost $7.50.
I tried an experiment the other day. I was lacking in confidence, I didn't even know if I could get out of the car to go into the shop. I felt old, fat and embarrassed. So I decided to pretend I was the opposite. I walked into the shop with swag and a bounce in my step. I was extra charming to anyone I spoke to, including giving a big thank you to the young girl at the self service check outs. It was obvious that no one ever thanked her for over seeing all these tills, but I went up to her and said thank you, and walked away, she seemed shocked and smiled and followed me with her eyes all the way out of the store. Now it could have been because she was thinking I was an arsehole, but I think it was because she saw me as cool and confident, even if I am old and fat. I didn't feel confident at all, but damn, I faked it well. As Tinie Tempah said, be confident in what you wear, and it really works.

You put it together oh so well, and you are neither old nor fat, anyway well done ;)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE all these outfits.....You have such wonderful taste and such an "artists" eye for combining all things beautiful.......
ReplyDeleteFat & Old? Naaaaaah!!!
Goodness you are stylish.
ReplyDeleteOld? Not from where I am sitting. Ditto on the fat count.
Cheap? I'd never know it from the way you present it here (so I have my doubts that it truly is...) and it's obvious you really do have an eye for fashion and putting it all together successfully.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea how old you are, but I feel sure you're neither as old OR as fat as I am! (and I don't believe I'm either, really) I've always been one to dress like I want and I'm not sure how it reflects my personality, good, bad, or otherwise.
OK, you took a picture of your watches for me. What about your shirts?
ReplyDeletePlease. :-)
I don't think you are either old or fat! You really do have a knack for putting things together, and it never looks cheap.
ReplyDeleteI agree that presenting your self with confidence makes a lot of difference.
It wouldn't matter if I spent a fortune on clothes, I'd still look like a bag lady in them. Like puttin' lipstick on a mule.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with that quote and also with your "experiment". You have such a great and artistic eye for fashion, it's what first drew me to your blog.
ReplyDeleteYou aren't old or fat, and I'm hoping you feel confident for real soon. But fake it 'til you make it is good advice!
ReplyDeleteI agree. I know I feel better about myself when I wear a shirt and tie to work. Strangers call me sir, which I like.
ReplyDeleteLove the brooklyn gear. I'm originally from brooklyn

that is such good advice. And fabulous outfits - that Mexican day of the dead style shirt is my favourite!
