Another post with no theme!

When we go to Arizona in August the temperature is almost always well over 100.

But it's also the rainy season, and when it rains, boy does it rain. Not that I'm not used to the rain, here in the UK it's rare to go a few days without it, but it's still a strange sight to me in Arizona.

Especially, as it still remains really hot. So on a trip to our local shops I just had to take a photo of this incredible sky.

And the sunset.

But by the next day, or even the same day, it's as if nothing has happened, apart from a few wispy clouds in the sky.

And here mainly for you Kelly, are the jigsaws I did whilst I was away on holiday. The first 3 were just 500 pieces each and from Dollar Tree. I have to say I was really disappointed in the store this time, as they have stopped selling these "Puzzlebug" jigsaws, and don't seem to have any 500 piece or more puzzles at all. I'm hoping they may get some more in for Christmas.

Now this first one, called Jolly Jellies, was far from jolly, it was really, really hard!

This image looks like something from the 50's. It was bright, fun and quick to do, and after the jelly bean one, that's what I wanted!

There is nothing more frustrating to me than doing a jigsaw with a piece missing, especially when you discover it right at the beginning, but as you can see the corner piece it was no where to be seen even though this was a new and sealed jigsaw. My partner said "Well what do you expect for one dollar?" Still it was fun to do, apart from seeing so many stuffed dogs with sad faces. They must have known about the missing piece.

My cousin hasn't quite accepted what or who I am and still insists of giving me gifts that are a too pink and "girly" for my liking, but I still thought this 1,000 piece jigsaw of Cupcakes looked fun. I have to say, given the fact this was a more expensive "quality" jigsaw, it wasn't that well made. The pieces weren't cut that well and you can see that from the photo, but still it was a nice jigsaw to do and made me very hungry for anything sweet and sickly!

I don't seem to find the time to do jigsaws in the UK, so all you non jigsaw fans can relax now. :D

  1. Both the photos of Arizona and of the puzzles are amazing, so colorful! So do you love cupcakes, don't you?

  3. I can see why so many people go to Arizona for the winter.

  4. But the humidity is low!! ;)

I would never have bought that jelly bean puzzle. Too hard! I admire you for working it. The other two look much more fun (but I would have been so ticked off about the missing piece).

I've worked that exact same cupcake puzzle! Mine was a gift, too.

I posted a puzzle today...come take a look when you get a chance.

  5. Love the scenery. Those skies are incredible.
One of my brothers is a jig-saw addict. Missing pieces are one thing - but he was given one which (deliberately) had a few extras. And the absolute worst? A two-sided jigsaw. The image on the front and the back is identical - but one side has the picture rotated 90 degrees.

  6. Beautiful pictures of Arizona!
We used to do puzzles like that a lot. I should get a few back out.

  7. I love jigsaw puzzles. Nothing better than a bottle of wine and a puzzle on a cold snowy winter day!

  8. I'm sorry if you've already said this, but how long does it usually take you to do a 500-piece puzzle? Also, do you keep it out on a table, or do you have one of those roll-up storage things? Thanks.

  9. Coolness captured indeed. Loving the cacti, the only plant that I manage not to kill, and as for those jigsaws ...... such wonderfully vivid colours, how I wish I had the patience to sit and do a puzzle.

  10. Ale, I love any cakes. :D

    Thanks Ms A!

ditchingthedog, I have to say that Christmas in Arizona was lovely. Beautiful sunny days, not too hot, but warm enough to sit out in the middle of the day and get some sun.

Kelly, I thought doing the Jelly Bean would be good for me, maybe stimulate a few dying brain cells. I thought you'd done the cupcake jigsaw but I wasn't sure if it was the same.

Elephant's Chid, yes I've done a few doubled sided jigsaws in my time. Really hard!

Mari, thanks! You should, jigsaws are fun! Unless there are missing pieces. :D

Peggy, I couldn't agree more, although I was doing these when it was over 106 degrees outside!

B, I'm a bit weird, I always do my jigsaws on the floor, on a piece of cardboard. I usually do the 500 piece jigsaws in a couple of days. Although that jelly bean one took a lot longer!

Tracy, I love the cactus too, and yes it's about the only plant I've managed to keep alive in AZ too! Well I don't have the patience to sit and read books like you do.
