Angry birds or Hungry birds?

This appears to happen once a year. A flock of seagulls fly in from the coast, which is about an hour and half drive away from here, and settle in the field in front of our house. The attraction was the food left out for the 2 horses to eat.

I find seeing any animal on mass a little unsettling.

The horse bravely approached the food.

But even he became irritated by the birds presence and kicked until the birds flew away.

But of course they returned minutes later. It reminded me of this!

  1. I like that you included the horse in most of these, the last one being extra nice.

It's a "whiter" version of what I've been seeing over the past month. The blackbirds have been migrating through our area and it's absolutely amazing to watch them. I'll admit it's a bit unnerving at times, especially when they're right outside the window. The sound of them always makes me think of the Hitchcock movie!

  4. So I'm guessing you're the kind of guy who'd rather fight 1 horse sized duck rather than 100 duck sized horses?

  5. The poor hungry horse! If only he'd galloped in at them, the flock might have fled in surprise. Time to get a covered food shed station out there...
The gulls are like that here also- so I never feed them! Someone at the beach was doing that- to get pics n didn't have much food- stupid. Yep, many angry birds...

    Great Photos n story!
Would have been here sooner but computer getting glitchy lately.

  6. Definitely a cool capture, Joey! And the lighting was perfect, too.

Looks like the horse got a huge workout dealing with that flock!

  7. Those are great pictures! I feel sorry for the horse but he certainly wasn't about to let his food be stolen.

PS- In the Hitchcock film I am kind of rooting for the birds. If she is going to be so stupid to go upstairs and open that door she deserves a few pecks.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. :-)
