Whilst I was in the States I did 2 jigsaws. I tend to do any that have busy designs, with very little areas with the same colour, because I find that boring. It turned out that the Coca Cola one had a bit more plain red than I was imagining, but it was still fun to do. This was a 1,000 piece. I had to take the photograph using the ipad, so the picture quality is lacking a bit.
I saw this 500 piece jigsaw in Wal-Mart for under $5, so I couldn't resist buying it at that price. I thought it would be a little cheap and nasty but in fact it was a really nice jigsaw to do and more challenging than I thought. I brought this back to the UK with me to sell on ebay. As much as I enjoyed doing this one, I probably wouldn't do it again.
I never showed this jigsaw that I did the last time I was in the States a few months ago. This picture is by one of my favourite Americana artists Charles Wysocki. I actually have another jigsaw by him that I haven't done yet. His work is full of so much detail, and the enjoyable aspect of doing a jigsaw like this, is that you get to see it all as you piece the picture together. This jigsaw I wouldn't sell, and I know in the future I will do again.
I'm still working on another jigsaw too, of a butterfly, which I'm only doing to check to see if all the pieces are there, so I can sell it. If I ever finish it, it may appear on this blog too. Try not to get too excited! Ale told me I'm obsessed with jigsaws, so sorry if this post is a bit boring!

Hey I never said you are obsessed, did I? The last one is so lovely!
ReplyDeleteAle, yeah you did. ;) But I'm joking, I am a bit obsessed!
ReplyDeleteoh wow...The most difficult puzzle that I have done was 500 pieces.
ReplyDeleteYou are great.
Well, it's a GOOD thing to have as an obsession!! At least I can relate. ;)
ReplyDeleteThe colors in the merry-go-round horse are wonderful! I can see why it caught your eye.
I like the details in the last one, too. That's one of the reasons I've worked so many Jan Van Haasteren puzzles.
I still have confidence we'll see that butterfly. :) And be on alert... I should post puzzle pix soon myself. Maybe over the weekend.
The coke one is so vibrant and the last one is so incredibly detailed...and I can understand why you enjoy piecing them together. My daughter and I do jigsaws once in a while. I find it soothing and it allows my mind to take a break and really be in the moment. I think they're highly under-rated! :)
ReplyDeleteGenskie, thanks, well 1,00 piece is no more difficult than a 500 really, it just takes longer!
ReplyDeleteKelly,
I think it's a fairly healthy obsession really. I look forward to seeing your new post then!
Talon, the Coke one was fun to do, I've done another one in the same series and that was vibrant like that too. I agree, they are relaxing and very soothing.
you seem to do puzzles as much as others watch tv. Strange how you have the patience for those but not other things. My Dad used to do them. .
ReplyDeleteShows alot of persistence!
Joe, I'm admiring these puzzles, although I've never been any good at putting them together. Maybe it's that I don't have the patience. Oh, I have patience, but not for this. My cousin loves to work on them while on vacation, and almost everyone joins in now and then. Do you do them at home also, or just when away? It looks like you haven't grown bored with the US, yet I haven't met you and your family yet. :D I am terrible, haven't got around to reading blogs for so long unless they're on or connected to Facebook. I shouldn't be that way, because I have always enjoyed your writing style. I miss hearing about the girls too. Do you have a way of messaging here? My email is friendofaslan@netzero.net, the same one for years. It's good to see you around. foA
