Viewing the world through new eyes

As a child I hated nature. Flowers, plants and landscapes all left me cold. Maybe because my mother adored them so much and I tended not to like anything she did, or maybe it was just the hours we'd spend in a car driving through boring landscapes. When I was at art college while other people were drawing daffodils I was drawing crushed up coke cans.

I still don't like seeing flowers in a home, I tend to connect them with hospitals and funerals, but I'm learning to appreciate all the natural beauty that God has created.

Now I'm beginning to see their beauty.

I'm preparing myself for the closing of Picnik this month and trying to get used to befunky which isn't the same, or as good as Picnik, but it does have some good effects you can try, like these.

But I still love my crushed Coke cans.

  1. I like flowers. I have a brown thumb when it comes to growing them, but I like to look at them. These are beautiful. I would have liked your Coke crushed cans, too. Different = interesting. :)

I've never dealt with any of the programs for editing photos other than just the basic crop, etc. - at least not on my computer. I have discovered several fun apps for my phone, though, and I've enjoyed experimenting with those some.

I kinda like what you did with the photo of the fly. That reminds me....I had a big plastic fly years ago, bigger than my hand. Hmmm...wonder what happened to that thing?

  2. Do you know what I love most these days of spring? Trees in bloom! And your pine cones! ;)

  3. Those flowers are freaking awesome. And Picnik. Don't even make me go there. I get sadder and sadder everyday.

  5. I love flowers. I didn't when I was younger, but as I got older, I got to appreciate not only the beauty, but the inner peace that they brought to me as well.
