My older daughter went to Paris a couple of weekends ago with her school. 30 seventeen and eighteen years let lose in a city is just asking for trouble. In fact my daughter was harassed by some men who wanted her work in their Strip Bar. I'm not sure if she felt flattered or freaked out, or maybe a combination of both.
I was so pleased to see her safely back home. Do you ever stop worrying about your kids?
She's studying photography for A Level and was over there to take shots of people. Hopefully not in the strip joints though. I've been left to straighten, sharpen and try and improve the quality of some of the images in photoshop.
I always think she has a unusual view on life, and as I was going through her photos I realised that maybe that came through on the images she captured. Like this:

Her original shot. She said that it was like a journey from the child through to the woman.

The more I worked on this image the more it reminded me of the little girl that appears in the film Schindler's List

So I couldn't resist giving it the old photo treatment.

And here's the little girl in the red coat from Schindler's List. Or maybe it's ME that has a weird outlook on life for even making the comparison.

I love what you did to the photo, but I also think that your daughter is going to be a great photographer, just like you.
ReplyDeleteAnd no, you never stop worrying about them. Just thought I would end on that happy note.
Actually, I do see why you made the comparison. It's an interesting photo.
ReplyDeleteMine are all grown and, although I still worry at times, I think the intesity has lessened. It reaches the point (where it should have been all along, of course) that it's much easier to just put them in God's hands.
That should have said "intensity". Proofread, Kelly - proofread before hitting publish!
ReplyDeleteHow cute, I like very much her shot and the meaning she gave to it, she's becoming a woman actually ;)
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the old photo treatment, and I definitely see why it reminded you of Schindler's List.
Very interesting and thought provoking.
ReplyDeleteI personally like to make my photos look old and aged.
