Hold on tight!

So back when I was in my late teens I'd hang out at Fairgrounds with my large Pratkica camera, with it's external light metre, and clumsy leather strap, taking photos.

It's very strange to think that all people photographed here will now be grown up because the images appear to have a timeless quality about them.

Some of these pictures have been scanned from poorly printed photos so they aren't the sharpest, cleanest photos ever, but you get the idea of what I was up to in my much younger years.

  5. Wouldn't it be great if some middle-aged guy recognized himself from one of these photos and commented on your blog?

  6. These are really great pictures! I think the fact that they are Black and White adds to the timelessness of them.

  9. These are absolutely wonderful!! You've really captured "life" here.

"The Exciting Twist"? That's called the "Scrambler" at our fair. The swing thingies in the photo above that always scared me. I remember one malfunctioned at our county fair one year and someone's leg was broken when they crashed.

  11. First time I've ever followed directions, and look where you got me to go!

I love color photos, but when it's black and white, the subject matter doesn't get lost in the distraction.

  12. They make me think of a black and white film - a little surreal.

  15. I love a fair and that one looks like a lot of fun. But I almost fell from a Ferris Wheel like that one when I was six. Just looking at the picture ties my stomach in knots. You get rock and roll at fairs? All we get is hours of canned vintage music.
